THE sound of sleigh bells will be replaced by the roar of more than 800 motorcycles when bikers from across the region unite to spread festive cheer during the Lockyer Valley Ulysses Club’s annual toy run.
The charity ride, on December 13, will depart from Brassall Shopping Centre at 10.30am and conclude at the Ipswich Turf Club with an auction and perpetual draw at 11.30am.
Club president Adrian Pamenter said the ride was touted as “the best there is” by clubs across the state.
“When you go on the bike forums, the Ipswich toy run is the one everyone talks about,” Mr Pamenter said.
“People ring us and want to know how they can help. I’m gobsmacked at the support we have received from businesses.”
He hoped the the community would support the run by joining the ride or lining the streets to witness the spectacle.
“The ride itself is free and you’re welcome to bring toys or non-perishable items, but for a $15 donation you’ll receive a cooked breakfast, water, a patch or pin for this year and entry into the perpetual draw from donations given by businesses and individuals,” he said.
Mr Pamenter said proceeds from the event would go to the Salvation Army and the Ulysses Club Arthritis Research Fund.
