Bikers combine for kids

About 180 motorcyclists embarked on the Combined Motorbike Clubs of Bendigo Annual Toy Run to help raise almost $4000 for needy members of the central Victorian community.
The run started at Centro Lansell in Kangaroo Flat, before travelling through Castlemaine.
The run then went through Long Gully, Eaglehawk and White Hills before finishing at Lake Weeroona.
The event was also supported by local businesses, which donated goods for auction and raffles, and by Mayor Rod Campbell, who helped with fundraising.
The money will be used to purchase IGA food vouchers for distribution by St Vincent de Paul.
A St Vincent de Paul truck followed the toy run to collect toys donated by local residents.
Allies Motorcycle Club president Tony Warhurst said the run was a big success: “People dipped a little bit deeper into their pockets.”
This was illustrated by grade 2 Kennington Primary student Bradley Shedden, who raised $100.
